Deni & Sam’s wedding
Deni and Sam had a family filled wedding at The Hospitium, York.
When I was asked to be the photographer for Deni & Sam at The Hospitium, I was so excited. It's a stunning venue, and I couldn't wait to photograph there. I met Deni at a Holiday Inn express just outside of York on the morning of her wedding. The bridesmaids and a few guests had stayed there overnight and were all getting ready together. She’d chosen to do her own hair and makeup with the bridesmaids adding the finishing touches.
Sam was at the pub just outside the venue walls meeting the rest of the guests as they arrived. With a final few tweaks to his buttonhole he led the wedding party onto the Hospitium with one of his best men.
The venue was stunning. There were flowers spiralling around the huge stone pillars and hanging from the ceiling, all in white and blue. Fairy lights wove in between them adding a little bit of sparkle to the room, along with the candle pieces that lines the aisle. They’d booked a harpist to play during the morning which made the atmosphere even more magical.
As the ceremony came to an end, the rain began to start. We were lucky enough to capture the group shots and confetti outdoors when it died down a little, but there was no such luck for the rest of the day.
The Umbrellas
Two huge umbrellas live in my car, so when we realised the rain would continue all day we got out the brollies and went for a walk anyway. The Hospitium grounds are a photographers dream. There are so many perfect photography spots. Although there wasn’t much time to explore the grounds fully, we still managed to capture some gorgeous images in the gardens.
For the evening reception Deni had created a playlist for the DJ. There was a huge variety of music and everyone was up and dancing all night!
My favourite part of the day was the venue. It was in a stunning location, with beautiful decorations and had a really magical feel to it.
