One of our favourite parts of any wedding is the wedding cake. Not just because they’re super tasty, but the attention to detail and skill that goes into making them look so beautiful blows our mind. We decided to look back over the last few months to share some of our favourite cakes with you.
To narrow down our choice, we’ve only included cakes made by a business. There are some AMAZING designs that have been created by family members or friends, but we’ll share those in another blog.
Andrew & Fran’s Cake by SJ Cakes
We love the simplicity of this cake. The flowers matched the bridal bouquet, and the wire cake topper tied in with the room décor. The detail on the icing adds a little interest (rather than a flat iced cake) without taking away from the flower colours.
Emma & Karl’s Cake by Cake On Me
This is another beautifully simple cake, and a perfect example of catering for your guests. It’s just one tier, with flat cream icing. The ribbon and flowers add a little pop of colour that is in keeping with the wedding theme. It’s a perfect size for the amount of wedding guests, meaning there’s no waste!
Rosie & Patrick’s Cake by Quite Contrary Cakes
The two sided ‘sneaky’ cake that Rosie & Patrick chose matched their wedding on both counts. On the traditional side they opted for pinks and golds, with the flower cake topper and bottom tier. The other side was Toy Story themed, complete with Mr & Mrs Potato Head cake topper!
Nicola & Paul’s Cake by Amanda’s Cakes
Who’d have thought you could have a classy, traditional, Lego themed cake? Until we saw this one, neither did we. The thought that went into the scene of this cake is so imaginative and funny, it had to be in our favourites list. The icing on the bottom tier is pulled back to reveal Lego brick detail, with the characters rushing to get the cake finished (while having a few disasters!).
Sam & Cassie’s Cake by Iced co.
“You’re my lobster” was the theme for this couple’s cake. It’s perfectly simple, with just the purple ribbon tying in with the overall wedding theme. The cake topper is the main feature of this cake and takes the shape of two lobsters on their wedding day.
Karen & Steve’s Cake by Melanie’s Cakes
A little different to the traditional wedding cake, Karen & Steve opted for a single tier chocolate cake, surrounded by milk and white chocolate cake pops. The roses on the stand were also edible, and added the little bit of colour needed to tie the cake in with the wedding theme.
