Charlotte and Eric had a relaxed, international wedding at Barnsley Registry Office followed by their reception at Shaw Lane Sports Club.

On the day of the wedding I met Charlotte and Eric at Barnsley Town Hall. They’d opted for my part day package to cover their wedding ceremony and reception; they weren’t really into the traditional wedding disco, and both had grand plans of an early night and a KFC!

Charlotte looked stunning as she walked up the steps to Barnsley Town Hall. Both of them were beaming as they exchanged their vows and it was obvious that both their families were just as excited as they were.

The wedding guests had come from all over the globe, even as far as Australia to celebrate this marriage. As I was chatting to people throughout the day it was so interesting to hear the comparisons between different cultures' weddings. From the timings to what people ate and drank, there are so many things that change the timeline of a wedding day. But as we spoke it became clear that at its core, no matter where you’re from, a wedding is a celebration of two people in love making a commitment to each other.

After the ceremony we all made our way to Shaw Lane for the photographs. The original plan had been to capture everything at Barnsley Town Hall, but it had tonnes of scaffolding around it as it was being used as a film location. Luckily Shaw Lane has some beautiful sections, so we were able to quickly pivot and change location.

By lunchtime the buffet was open for guests to enjoy. Speeches were carried out and the music started to play. It was a really lovely atmosphere with families catching up and enjoying each other’s company. As I said goodbye to Charlotte and Eric the reception was coming to a natural end, and they were very excited to get to the drive through!
