Diane and Nathan chose to have their pre-wedding session at their wedding venue, Sheffield Manor Lodge. This is a gorgeous wedding venue with lots of outdoor space. The wedding ceremony was due to take place at the 16th century barn, under the cover of a marquee, with the wedding reception in Manor Oaks House.
We met in the car park close to Manor Oaks House and walked through the fields to the gardens together. Along the way we spotted a few dark clouds coming in overhead, and prepared for the rain! Luckily the weather stayed dry the whole time we were outdoors and we managed to capture some amazing dramatic skies.
As we walked through the gardens of Sheffield Manor Lodge we discussed the best places to capture Diane and Nathan’s group shots. With guests of all ages and abilities, it was important to make sure guests weren’t walking too far from the drinks reception space but we were still capturing the gardens in all their glory. The wildflower section of the gardens is one of my favourites for couple’s portraits, and they agreed. It’s full of colour, life and gives a great backdrop for interesting photographs no matter what time of year.
After fully exploring the gardens we sat down and discussed the final details of their day. We went through the timings, a full list of group shots and who would need to be photographed in which areas of the grounds. We’d just finished our planning when the rain started to come down.
