Barnsley Town Hall Wedding
After a year of uncertainty, Jess and Phil chose to have their legal wedding in December 2020. They were married at Barnsley Town Hall with just a handful of wedding guests to adhere to covid guidelines.
On the morning of the wedding I met all the wedding guests, the happy couple and a few of their friends outside the side entrance at Barnsley Town Hall. It was a drizzly morning, but due to the restrictions we were unable to head inside before the wedding ceremony began. Everyone had arrived fully prepared for the weather with umbrellas and warm coats.
When it was time for us to go inside, we were escorted by the Barnsley Town Hall staff. As a Barnsley wedding photographer I have frequently photographed weddings at the Town Hall, so it was odd to be led through the different entrances and one way systems thy have in place to keep everyone as safe as possible. Hand sanitizer stations were found every few steps, and we waited behind a red rope barrier to be called into the ceremony room itself.
The wedding ceremony was the highlight of the day. While some of the more traditional elements couldn’t be implemented (walking down the aisle and readings for example) the promises and vows that Jess & Phil made to each other were exchanged with love, and a few tears from guests too!
Following the ceremony we were escorted to an exit at the back of the town hall. We took the opportunity to capture some group shots, and allow Jess & Phil’s grandparents to take the shorter route back to their cars. After capturing more photographs around Barnsley Town Hall, the newlyweds went off to celebrate their marriage with a good takeaway at home.
There is a second celebration planned when the restrictions have settled, and I can’t wait to be a part of that too!
