Jo and Caster chose to have their pre-wedding session at Kenwood Hall in Sheffield. Although I’ve been a wedding photographer in South Yorkshire for over 9 years, this is the first wedding I’ve captured at Kenwood Hall. Taking the time to explore the grounds with these two was a lovely experience.
I’d met Jo and Caster at Kenwood Hall for their initial consultation; however this was during a very rainy day with lots of covid restrictions still in place. It was such a refreshing change to see the grounds in a spot of sunshine!
We started the session by walking around the building. There was a grand door that these two were keen to include in their images, so we made a route from the ceremony room to the door, via some of the grounds. From there we walked down to the lake and boathouse via the woodland footpath. There were so many sections of this walk that made stunning spots for photographs that it was hard to choose which ones were the best.
When we had finished exploring the whole venue we headed back indoors to talk about the details of the day. As part of these meetings I always ask if there are any extra activities or surprises I need to be aware of, and these two both had surprises for each other!
As Caster went to grab some sugar for the coffees, Jo told me her plan to run down the aisle. She would walk in with her Dad to a traditional wedding song before giving him a hug at the top of the aisle and running to Caster. Caster had a request to include their dog in the family portraits. She’d recently passed away, but they still wanted a way to include her in their day.
I made a plan with both of them to ensure we created the images they wanted for their day.
