Josh and Kim chose their church, All Saints Church Darfield, for their pre-wedding session. They came with their two children so we could create some family memories as well as talking about their wedding plans.
I originally met Josh and Kim at a family session in the studio a few years ago. It was so lovely to hear from them when they’d set a wedding date; it’s always nice to keep in touch with families! They told me about their plans for a relaxed, intimate wedding at their local church, followed by their DIY reception in the church hall. It sounded like a lot of fun and matched them completely.
We met at church for the pre-wedding session and had a walk around the church grounds. They’re much larger than they seem, with steps and paths twisting to make the space feel even bigger, and we knew they’d make the perfect place for photographs on the day.
As we walked we spoke more about the wedding details. There was a big focus on music, with a live band for the reception and a singer during the ceremony itself. They were planning an alternative feel with a red and black theme – and with Kim planning to wear a black wedding dress too.
Lots of aspects of the day were being created by the wedding party, and I am very excited to see it all come together. It’s going to be an amazing day!
