Blyth St Mary & St Martin’s Church Wedding
Laura and Lawrence had a beautiful winter wedding at Hodsock Priory, Worksop in December. Their day began at St Mary & St Martin’s church in Blyth before driving to the reception in two very different wedding cars. The whole day was beautifully organised, and there were even hot chocolates to warm your cockles in the evening.
I met Laura at her Mum’s house in Sheffield on the morning of the wedding. She was there getting ready with her bridal party and close family. When I arrived hair and makeup was well under way, and Christmas songs were playing in the background. It was a relaxed morning full of anticipation for the day ahead.
When everyone was ready they piled into the wedding cars to make their way to Blyth church. This church was built in 1088 as part of a Benedictine monastery. It is one of the oldest examples of Norman architecture in England. Inside it has double height windows and beautiful decorations around the ceiling. It made the perfect background for Laura and Lawrence’s ceremony and group shots outside too.
After the ceremony we headed to Hodsock Priory. For this journey Laura & Lawrence had hired a Mini Stretch Limo, it was something I’d never seen before and it was great! At Hodsock we finished capturing the group shots before going inside to get warm.
The wedding reception room looked stunning. It was finished in a pink colour with name places on the back of the chairs rather than the tables, saving lots of table space. There were flowers, candles and a huge Christmas tree in the background giving the room a feel of festive elegance. After the wedding breakfast this same room was turned around to create the dancefloor and space for The Four Right Chords, the live band that had been booked for the evening.
The band got everyone on the dancefloor, from the youngest to the oldest wedding guests! It was so lovely to see everyone enjoying the evening and twirling around before I left for the day.
