Trudie and James had their wedding at Burntwood Court Hotel, Barnsley in the summer. It was a gorgeous day full of laughter and sharks.

I’d met Trudie and James at a wedding fayre at Burntwood Court Hotel in October, around 18 months before their wedding day. We clicked, and got their day fully booked in just a couple of weeks later. Burntwood is one of my favourite Barnsley wedding venues so I was very excited to hear their full day was taking place there.

On the day of the wedding I met Trudie in the conference room of the main hotel. The conference room has so much more space than the hotel bedrooms, and is the ideal spot for a large bridal party to get ready from. The windows that line one wall also make it a super bright room – amazing for photographs! The morning flew by and soon it was time for everyone to get into their dresses.

Trudie had a bespoke ‘baby shark’ garter made as part of her wedding outfit. Her love/hate relationship with sharks had been a standing joke in the relationship for years so it seemed fitting that there were little shark touches throughout the day.

After the ceremony in Burntwood Court Chapel, we captured the confetti and group shots. As we were photographing the couple with their parents, Trudie’s Dad said “It looks like rain”. As we turned around, some huge grey clouds were coming our way. Luckily the Chapel created the perfect indoor spot to finish capturing the group shots!

The day went by so quickly and it was soon time to head to the dancefloor for the cake cutting and first dance. A few months before the wedding, Trudie had spoken to the DJ and asked that ‘Baby Shark’ be the first song played following the first dance as a surprise for James. A week before the wedding, James contacted the DJ and requested ‘Baby Shark’ be played before the first dance. After consulting with Trudie the DJ stuck to the original plan and the bridal party had a great time snapping around the dancefloor!
