Adam & Kirsty’s Day
Adam & Kirsty had a beautiful March wedding at Wortley Hall. Their colour scheme was pink, and when Kirsty walked down the aisle it was clear to see why.
They had requested a second photographer for their wedding, so I went through my Barnsley photographer contact book and enlisted the help of Rob. We both spent the morning at Wortley Hall, I stayed upstairs with the ladies while he was with Adam and his friends calm their nerves in the bar.
The bridesmaids were the first ones to get dressed. I was shocked to see them in white dresses; they were straight with a pink sash and flower. Then Kirsty’s wedding dress bag was unzipped. She brought out a stunning pink dress, and suddenly the bridesmaid dresses made sense. Kirsty and her Mum had been the only people who knew about the colour of the dress until that point, so it would be a complete surprise for all the guests!
As the bridesmaids walked down the aisle it was clear that some of the guests were thinking the same as I did – why are they in white? When Kirsty walked through the door the atmosphere changed completely. Her dress suited her perfectly and she looked radiant in it.
After the ceremony we went to explore the grounds of Wortley Hall for the couple photographs. The weather was bitterly cold, so we tried to keep the shoot as short as possible while still capturing the images we needed.
As the day went on everyone was commenting on how beautiful Kirsty looked, and how much pink suited her.
To open the evening reception Kirsty danced with her Dad. Watching them laugh together as they spun around the dancefloor was wonderful. Adam took over for the official first dance before the cheesy music invited the rest of the guests to join in.
Although I loved her dress, my favourite part of the day was Kirsty’s dance with her Dad. It was an emotional few minutes and afterwards her Dad told me how much he’d enjoyed it.
