Every wedding season comes with its own trends, and summer weddings are no different. This year I’m seeing brighter colours, mis-matched dresses and changes in guest outfits too. Today I’m giving you all the inspiration you need for your summer wedding, based on what real couples are doing.
The Colours
The summer wedding colours this year are generally bright and bold. Blues and pinks are staying a firm favourite, but yellows and greens are also making an appearance. The outfits are a mixed bag, some pastel colours with others staying strong, but the flowers are tending to be more on the brighter side.

The Suits
There are more options for wedding suits now than there ever has been. We’ve completely moved away from the standard three piece blue or black style being the only options, and couples are now choosing what makes them happy and comfortable.
Three piece suits are still the most popular, but I’m now seeing more two piece – either without the jacket or waistcoat depending on the time of year – and more colours coming in. Brown and green are beginning to stand strong alongside the traditional blues and greens.
For accessories, pocket squares seem to be on the decline. Personalised tie clips, cuff links and socks are becoming more popular too. The buttonhole is still a staple and is showing no signs of going anywhere.

The Bridesmaids
Bridesmaid dresses are having a real shift this season. There’s all sorts going on, from completely mis-matched dresses that everyone has chosen themselves to the more traditional matching floor length gowns. The rule book had been well and truly thrown out on this one!
For accessories, simple jewellery and a bridesmaid bouquet is still the most popular choice. Shoes no longer need to match everyone else, but comfort is being prioritised.

The Wedding Dress
A-line dresses and ball gowns seem to be the choice of this summer wedding season. Floral lace is a popular choice, and I’m seeing more couples add colour to the wedding dress and veil than ever before.
Veils are still popular, and hair accessories are varying between show stopping tiaras and more subtle clips and pins.

The Flowers
Big bouquets in a wildflower style are definitely in. The colours are bright and bold, usually matching the colours of the venue decor, and tied with different ribbons or string. Memory lockets are also being used more frequently, usually tied around the middle of the bridal bouquet.

The Guests
After a year of comfort, guests are tending to opt for a more formal look again. The bright colours and floral patterns are still around, but more fitted summer dresses and skirts with heels and fascinators are making a comeback. Gents are coming back to a two or three piece suit with a tie and dress shoes (even if the tie comes off for the evening antics!).
