Amy and Tom chose to have their pre-wedding session at their wedding ceremony venue, St Thomas’ Church in Gawber Barnsley. I’ve photographed many weddings in South Yorkshire, but this was my first visit to Gawber Church.
We started the session by capturing some shots in the church grounds. At this church the space both at the front and back of the building has well-kept grass and lots of colourful flowers and trees, it really is beautiful. We walked up the path at the back of church, making use of the flowered archway along the way, before heading back to the front of the building.
There were a few spots that Amy and Tom particularly wanted to capture on their day, the most important being the front of the church. They also wanted to capture a select amount of group shots and couples portraits in the church grounds before we all headed to the reception venue.
Inside church we sat down and made a full list of the images they wanted to capture, along with the location. We went through the details of their wedding day, including all the timings and designated people to help move the day along smoothly.
You can see how we got on at Amy & Tom’s real wedding day here.
