Allison & Mike
Allison and Mike had a beautiful wedding at Aston Church, followed by Aston Hall hotel.
I began the day by meeting Allison and her bridal party in her house. All the ladies were in the dining room having their hair and make-up done by a gorgeous bay window. The bridesmaid dresses were all Cadburys purple and the ladies stood in a line fastening each other up. Meanwhile my fabulous assistant Rob was with Mike and the groomsmen all working out how to tie a cravat.
Rob and I met at Aston Church as the guests were beginning to arrive. There was just enough time for some last minute cravat adjustments before the bridesmaid’s car pulled up and everyone was ushered inside for the ceremony. Allison looked stunning as she walked down the aisle, and Mikes face lit up when he saw her.
Aston Hall Hotel
After the ceremony everyone began making their way across the car park to Aston Hall Hotel. The newlyweds had arranged a horse and carriage ride around the village before they came into the drinks reception, so there was plenty of time for the guests to enjoy the sunshine before the group photographs.
The afternoon flew by, and soon it was time to head indoors for the wedding breakfast. The centrepieces on each table had been handmade by Allison and her brother. They’d had some work done in the garden, resulting in a tree being cut down. Rather than waste it, they hand carved it and added three different sized wine glasses with candles and lavender to create their centre pieces. They were really effective and everyone commented on how different they were.
As the evening went on the tie for the first dance came. Allison and Mike began a slow dance to their favourite song; then the music cut out. The DJ looked completely baffled, Mike began to shout at him and Allison looked as though she could burst into tears.
Another song began playing, and the happy couple burst into a choreographed dance. It was completely unexpected, and so well executed everyone in the room was in shock! After they’d taken a bow guests flooded onto the dancefloor with them.
My favourite part of the day was the centrepieces. They really stood out and looked just as lovely at the end of the evening as they did at the start of the day.
