Julie and Sean chose to have their pre-wedding session at their wedding venue, the Holiday Inn Barnsley. I’ve photographed at the Holiday Inn many times over the years, but it’s always lovely to explore the grounds with couples and find out which bits they love most.
We started the pre-wedding session by going through the nitty gritty details of their wedding day. We spoke about their timings, colours, and created a list of group shots they’d like to capture on their wedding day. When we’d got all the details straightened out, we headed around to the Holiday Inn Barnsley Secret Garden.
The Secret Garden at The Holiday Inn Barnsley is around the side of the building, and accessed via some stone steps. At the top, the black metal gates lead you through the archway into a perfectly curated garden. Inside there are fountains, benches and giant flower pots all made of white stone. At the bottom of the garden is a pergola made in the same material. It’s a stunning space, and is licensed for outdoor wedding ceremonies too.
As we explored the garden together, Julie and Sean mentioned that they loved the willow tree outside the secret garden. It’s not a space I’m usually drawn to at this venue, so it was lovely to have their input and ideas. We made sure to capture images of them under it as part of their pre-wedding session, and replicate them on the wedding day itself. They actually turned out to be some of my favourite wedding photographs of them both!
