Barnsley Town Hall Wedding
Kim and Andy were married in May at Barnsley Town Hall. Their day was originally planned to be held at The Ironworks at Elsecar Heritage Centre, but plans changed with coronavirus. To keep their original venue as part of their day, it was decided that group shots and couple photographs would be captured around the Heritage Centre.
On the day of the wedding I met Andy outside Barnsley Town Hall. It was raining, a lot. As more guests arrived they were shown up to the first floor of the Town Hall where they could wait for the ceremony to begin while staying dry. Kim arrived with her Dad, and with the help of two of her bridesmaids she was able to get indoors without getting wet.
The ceremony room was set out with socially distanced seats in order to keep all the guests as safe as possible. In spite of the restrictions, Kim and Andy’s ceremony was beautiful. They beamed at each other as they exchanged their vows and wedding rings, and didn’t stop smiling for the rest of the day.
After the ceremony we were escorted out of the building via the service doors. Some of their friends had arrived to congratulate them both, and were waiting by the doors armed with a bottle of bubbly! One of the first group photographs was captured next to the bins. It had been a standing joke in the wedding party that they’d be exiting next to the Biffa Bins, so we couldn’t pass on the opportunity to include them in the images.
We walked to the front of Barnsley Town Hall to capture some further group shots before making our way to Elsecar Heritage Centre. I’d love to say that the rain eased for us, but if anything it got worse! The photographs at Elsecar were taken with the help of umbrellas, and members of the wedding party passing them to and from each other. The couple photographs were no different. The white wedding umbrella was a big feature, only being dropped for a few moments at a time.
Regardless of the weather, the restrictions, and the rearrangements Kim & Andy had the most perfect wedding day, and one I’ll remember for a long time.
