Long Distance Plans

Carly and James had a tough job planning their wedding. They were originally from Barnsley, but moved to Cambridgeshire for work. As their family was in Barnsley they chose to have their wedding here, but it is quite difficult to find Barnsley wedding photographers, florists and venues with limited availability to meet them.

Through a lot of organisation and help from various family members, Carly and James managed to plan a beautiful wedding at The Holiday Inn Barnsley.

They chose a blue and white theme for their day, with James wearing a blue waistcoat and matching cravat. Carly had blue diamantes in her bouquet, which shone beautifully in the sun.

After the ceremony we were able to use The Holiday Inn’s Secret Garden. This is a beautiful gated garden behind the hotel and is completely private. The huge gates that keep the Secret Garden out of bounds provided the perfect backdrop for the group shots. Inside we captured all the couple photographs, using the benches, stone gazebo and flower fountains.

When the wedding breakfast was over, the speeches began. James’ speech is still one of the funniest I’ve ever heard. He began by saying he couldn’t find the words himself; the rest of the speech was a series of quotes from various action films, all said in his best impressions. There were quotes from love films, along with horror and action film quotes!

Later in the evening, he began the first dance. As with his speech, it wasn’t the usual romantic couple dance. He took complete advantage of a clear dancefloor to show off some unique moves, including a spot of breakdancing (scroll down for the photos!). Carly finally managed to stop laughing, and they finished their dance together.

My favourite part of the day was the cake topper. They had a Lego bride and groom with soldiers lining either side. It was simple, but suited them to a tee.
