Ye Olde Bell Wedding
Natalie and Karl had a beautiful August wedding day at Ye Olde Bell Hotel in Retford, Nottinghamshire. Their son, Seth, was by their side the entire day skillfully carrying out his duties as best man.
On the morning of the wedding I met Natalie with her bridal party in the spa of the Ye Olde Bell. They were in the salon having their hair and makeup done. The salon was so beautiful and bright, it was the perfect spot for getting ready. When everyone’s hair and makeup was finished we dashed back across to the main hotel, avoiding arriving guests as we went!
The room Natalie stayed in the evening before the wedding is named ‘The Victoria Suite’. It’s a beautifully finished room with a lounge area, dining table, bathroom and bedroom complete with a four poster bed. It’s reported that a young Queen Victoria stayed in this suite when she was travelling between London and York in 1835.
While dresses were being fastened, the weather took a turn. The beautifully sunny morning disappeared and rain clouds started to form above. Natalie & Karl’s plan of having an outdoor ceremony seemed to be in danger, but the staff pulled out all the stops (and umbrellas) to make sure their ceremony happened exactly as planned.
Following the ceremony we captured the group shots from the safety of the tree canopy. It may not have been the glorious sunshine they’d wished for, but we were still able to use the outdoor space of the venue without getting wet!
As the day went on the weather improved significantly. After the wedding breakfast the sunshine came out and guests were able to sit in the gardens with a gin or two. The children loved playing on the swing and around the huge heart.
Soon it was time for Natalie & Karl to cut their cake and do their first dance. After the first minute of their first dance, Seth came to join them on the dance floor. It was the perfect moment for all three of them. When the song was over guests flooded to the dancefloor, and it was full all evening.
