Karen & Steve’s Day
Karen and Steve had a beautiful September wedding at The Holiday Inn Barnsley, surrounded by their closest family and friends. We used the secret garden in the grounds of Holiday Inn Barnsley for their couples photography.
When Karen and Steve told me they were getting married, I was incredibly happy for them both. I’d known them for a few years and when they asked me to be their photographer I was so excited to be a part of their day.
I met Steve and the wedding guests in Blakes Bar just before the wedding ceremony. Along with his best man, he led everyone into the wedding ceremony room to wait for Karen’s arrival. She looked stunning as she walked down the stairs with her bridesmaids. Her dress, bought from Cupid Connections, fitted her beautifully. The bridesmaid dresses were a gorgeous lilac colour and perfectly matched the wedding flowers. When they walked down the aisle everyone commented on how lovely they all looked.

After the ceremony we had the opportunity to use the Secret Garden. I love exploring this spot with couples. It’s not the biggest place but every time I go through the gates I seem to find something new. We spent some time exploring together and used almost every inch of the garden.
The wedding breakfast was waiting when we got back into the Holiday Inn, and most guests had already found their seats at the tables. Karen and Steve had opted to have five round tables for their wedding breakfast. Rather than a traditional straight to table, they sat at the centre table so they could easily speak to everyone on it.
In the corner of the room was the cake table, holding a mouth-watering chocolate cake. When the speeches were over we quickly did the cake cutting so everyone could try some. At the end of the wedding breakfast everyone headed into Scarlett’s bar for the evening reception.
My favourite part of the day was Karen’s hair and makeup. It had been done by Quest hair and beauty, and she looked stunning from walking down the stairs through to the end of the night.
