In our recent blog Location Sessions: Pros and Cons we talked all about the benefits of getting out of a studio setting for your photographs. However, deciding where to go for your photographs can be difficult. We’ve highlighted 5 location photography places in the Barnsley area that we think make beautiful, interesting settings for your images.
Locke Park
This is one of our favourite parks in the area. Within its grounds you’ll find a traditional bandstand, large fields, flower gardens, a rose walk, play area, cafe and of course – Locke Park tower. This diverse setting makes it the perfect place for all ages and abilities.
Monk Bretton Priory
Located just off Grange Lane, Monk Bretton Priory houses ruins from the 12th Century. Some of the walls reach almost their original height while others are just a few stones high. This creates a dynamic landscape and lends itself to fun, creative images.
Worsbrough Mill & Country Park
Tucked away at the bottom of Worsbrough is the Mill and Country Park. With a working water mill, cafe, and walks to suit all abilities this is an ideal place for younger children and families. The pathways and open spaces mean we can create a variety of images in a close area.
Elsecar Park
Inside this park there are large fields, a reservoir, band stand and play areas. The amount of space inside Elsecar Park makes it perfect for natural, playful images. The Heritage centre across the road can offer a contrast in styles all on the same session too.
Newmiller Dam
The walk around Newmiller Dam is one of our favourites. It’s accessible, and a range of backgrounds can be found just off the path. The hills, trees, flowers and benches around the walk make it a perfect place to photograph the whole family.
