Chelsea and Matthew chose to have their pre-wedding session at their wedding ceremony venue, Barnsley Town Hall. It was a beautiful day, if a little breezy!
I met Chelsea and Matthew outside the main door of Barnsley Town Hall in late May. It was a few days before Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee, so the town was decorated with union jack flags and jubilee memorabilia. It brought a very different feel to the usually minimal venue.
We started the session by the town hall steps and discussed which group shots we’d capture here. From there we walked around the path, through the water fountains and finishing at the cenotaph. Chelsea and Matthew had chosen The Beehive at The Garrison for their reception venue, so our route was mapped to minimise the walking distance between the two.
When we’d captured the images needed, we sat on one of the benches near the flowerbeds to talk about the details of the wedding day. They’d decided to do the decorations at The Beehive themselves, with a little help from family and friends. As there were no bridal preparation requirements, we decided I’d go to The Beehive before the wedding ceremony to capture their hard work – before the wedding guests were in the room.
After talking through the timings we made a list of the group shots they’d like, both at Barnsley Town Hall and at The Beehive. We decided to capture the more traditional shots after the ceremony, and then give guests the opportunity to have smaller family photographs by the bar.
It’s going to be a gorgeous wedding, and I’m very excited to capture it!
